4/1/04 Public StatementFor Immediate Release: April 1, 2005 PUBLIC STATEMENT BY BISHOP SEABURY CHURCH, GROTON We are greatly disturbed by the increasing pressure and threats that have been made against the Rector and the Parish of Bishop Seabury Church, by the Bishop of the Diocese of Connecticut, despite the entreaties of the Primates, the leaders of the worldwide Anglican Communion, to “protect the integrity and legitimate needs of groups in serious theological dispute with their diocesan bishop.” The Primates further acknowledge in their most recent communication, that the actions of the 2003 General Convention of the Episcopal Church in the United States have compromised the effectiveness of our common mission in the Church. We believe it vital that the public be made aware in the clearest possible way of our position. For this reason, we have made documents available to be circulated at our Sunday April 3, 2005 services which include recent correspondence which has precipitated the need for this information to be broadly and publicly disseminated. Please direct any inquiries to Bishop Seabury Church, 860-445-9423 |
